Illustration: RoxServers guide overview.Before a significant change, keep a copy of the world and configuration outside the server. Configuration files alone do not protect the world or player progress.
Edit a setting
- Inform players, save the game and stop the server when required.
- Use Config Files for supported configuration files or File Manager to browse folders.
- Download the original file first. Change only the required setting and preserve valid quoting, commas and indentation.
- Save, restart if needed, then inspect Logs.
Create a complete backup
Identify the world folder, configuration, mod list and any additional data. For a consistent copy, save the game and shut down normally before downloading. Use File Manager or the transfer access provided with your service. Use the actual protocol and connection details; do not assume an SFTP port.
Restore carefully
Keep a copy of the current state before restoring a consistent world and extension set. Do not mix incompatible versions. Ask support before overwriting files if unsure. Do not assume that automatic backups exist or have a particular retention period.
