How much RAM does a Minecraft server need?

· RoxServers

Choose Minecraft server memory using the game version, mods, players and actual measurements.

Start with your workload

There is no reliable fixed players-per-GB formula. List the Minecraft version, server software, simultaneous players, mods and plugins. A modpack may use substantial memory before anyone joins. Check its requirements and CPU needs too: more RAM cannot fix CPU saturation.

Measure real activity

Test exploration, new chunk generation, farms and simultaneous connections. Watch memory use and server responsiveness. Near-full memory with pauses may call for an adjustment; lag with plenty of free memory needs investigation of plugins, entities or world generation.

Match the plan to the project

RoxServers Minecraft RAM lets you choose 1 to 8 GB. Do not pick a limit below your project’s recommended requirements. Lower simulation distance and fewer unnecessary plugins can help, but cannot replace needed resources. Back up the world before major changes and review Slots plan conditions if you prefer pricing based on player capacity.
